| The Greatest Video Games - Revisited [Madden 2000] | |

They still can't stop the sweep. ![]() The John Madden series. Possibly the most frusterating series on the face of the planet. I hate these games. They are fun for about 20 minutes, until you remember that the computer can't stop the sweep outside. Honestly, this series has been out for a decade and they still haven't figured out a way to stop the sweep on any level below the 'All-Madden' level? Come on! EA, you should be ashamed! The game is so promising too. Franchise mode, free agency, create a player... so much potential, but there are too many annoying quirks for my taste. For example, passing seems to be absolutely impossible on the all-Madden level. Granted, I didn't play long at this level because the game is no fun, but in the 4+ games I tried on this level it seemed every time I dropped back to pass it was picked off. So I went to the level of difficulty below it. Now at least I could complete alot of passes and move the ball, however, one out of every 5 passes still landed in the hands of a defender. So I moved the difficulty down another level. Now I could run the ball on a sweep for 13 yards any play I wanted to, and I could move the ball passing at will... yet the interceptions are still frusteratingly frequent. One game I decided I was going to pass every play. My statline for the first half was like, 14-17 for 173 yards, 2 tds, and 3 picks. My point? Interceptions are vastly disproportionate to the level of difficulty. Defending, completing passes, running... they all become easy while interceptions just run rampant. Kailee Wong picked off 8 passes for me one season. That was on 'All-Pro'. Thats ridiculous. I completed over 70% of my passes in the season with Jeff George, and threw for about 35 tds, yet still couldn't avoid throwing 25 interceptions. 25! Thats like, Vinny Testeverde in his worst year bad (well, maybe not. I think Vinny hucked 35 one year in the most atrocious sports stat ever I believe, but you get the point).
