The Greatest Video Games - Revisited [Evander Holyfield's Real-Deal Boxing]
What? No References to God?

The Best Boxing Game Ever

This game must have been before Evander converted, as the man known to thank God for allowing him to beat up other people in his interviews does not even mention the Big Guy Upstairs in this Genesis classic. This game has so many entertaining features that it easily secured itself in the 'all-time greats' category when it first came out. The greatest thing about this game is definitely the career mode. This game allows the player to create his own fighter, including the looks, fighting style (left-handed or right), and attributes. Then the fighter starts off ranked #30 out of as many fighters and has to work his way up to the top where none other than. Evander Holyfield is waiting for him.

Evander Holyfield
Graphics: 9
Even though graphics today are much more impressive, at the time this game came out the graphics were totally mindblowing. This was the first game I remember playing on a console where the characters were hard to distinguish from a picture or a real life person.
Playability: 4
This game is not that easy to control. It is very difficult to manuever your character across the ring, and sometimes it gets very frustrating as you are trying to walk towards your opponent but for some weird diagnostic reason it just doesn't work. Also, some times it seems like you should be hitting your opponent, but once again due to diagnostic confusion you aren't.
Fun Factor: 8
Despite the difficulty in controls this is still a fantastic game. Like most great games it also is fun two-player, as it allows two people to enter the career-mode together, and you and a friend can have a rivalry that continues from the bottom of the ranks up to the title bout.
