The Greatest Video Games - Revisited [Earthworm Jim]
Evil the Cat

Princess Whats Her Name... HA. Thats funny.

Brought to us by the good people of Shiny entertainment in 1994, Earthworm Jim immediately became one of the most recognized characters in video games. Earthworm Jim was a side-scrolling one-player adventure game that stretched the limitations of its format to the max.

The humerous aspect of Earthworm Jim was what drew many of his fans. The enemies, such as Evil the Cat, are an example of the humor the programmers incorporated into the game.

The levels and missions are about as diverse as you will find with a side-scroller, as Jim is called upon to do everything from a bungee-jumping rumble with Major Mucous, to an underwater expedition in some sort of fish tank.

Earthworm Jim
Graphics: 7.5
The graphics from Earthworm Jim were spectacular at the time. The backgrounds are wonderfully detailed and colorful, and the characters are fairly large and sharp.
Playability: 7
Ths game is not extremely difficult to play, although some of the features just don't seem to work the way they should. An example of this is when Jim uses himself as a whip. His super-spacesuit flings his worm body towards a limb or ledge, and the action often fails when it appears it should have worked.
Fun Factor: 4
The thing that absolutely kills this game is the lack of a password or save option. It is unbelievably boring to start over at the first level everytime you play the game. Because of this, the game seems fresh for about 2 hours. In fact, I lost at the end of the last level twice and never tried to beat the game again because of the boring task of playing the whole thing over again. This game has a reply value of darn near 0.
