Square does it again!
This is another legendary Squaresoft RPG for the SNES. Ill always love the SNES for having the greatest RPGs ever. I remember my brother and I eagerly anticipating the next issue of Nintendo Power so we could see what sweet new RPGs were scheduled to be released. This game has always been somewhat difficult to obtain.
I remember when it was released we couldnt find it anywhere and ended up buying it used from some random guy at Target for $60thats right, USED. From that information you should be able to develop a mental picture of how much we wanted to have this game. The story deals with time travel and saving the world.
| | Chrono Trigger | Graphics: 8.5 If this was 1995 I wouldve given it a 10. The graphics at the time were completely groundbreaking. It was one of the first 32 meg games released on the SNES, meaning it had far more information and pixels than the average SNES game. To make a quick comparison, the Zelda game for SNES was 8 meg. The graphics are still pretty today, especially when youre in Zeal (the floating island place). |
Playability: 9
It gets a higher rating than Final Fantasy 3 because of greater replay value. After spending 40 hours to beat the game you can start over with your characters in a + game and do it again. Depending on how you finish the game, you will achieve something like 12 different endings. Ive had the game for 8 years now and I think Ive gotten about 7 of those endings. For storyline I give a slight edge to FF3 though. |
Fun Factor: 10 This is the ultimate RPG. If youve never played the game, give it a try. I bet youll be hooked. To top it off the soundtrack is my favorite of any videogame ever. Favorite character? Gotta go with Frog. |
