When I saw this game at the store I thought it looked really sweet, being officially licensed by the World Cup. The game could be played in 8 different languages. Lets be seriousit had to be good. After bringing the game home and popping it in the old SNES box I soon realized I was horribly mistaken, this game completely sucked donkey balls. The official license only went as far as having the correct groups countries as well as the official world cup mascot, some stupid annoying dog with soccer cleats. There is no player license so all the names are made up. One nice feature thrown in was the ability to thoroughly edit teams. Not only can you adjust the teams starters, formation and strategy, but you can also edit their jerseys. This seemed cool at first until my little brother went through and messed up all the jerseys. The next time I played with team USA I was forced to play with pink shirts. Unfortunately, the editing features does the game no justice in the game-play department.

World Cup USA 94
Graphics: 2
Personally, I find the graphics of the original NESs soccer games superior to this one. With 16 bits the developers should have been able to avoid forcing you to play with blobby looking midgets.
Playability: 1
This is what really pisses me off about the game. You can only move straight or diagonal with your players and the same goes for shots. Your shot is either going to go straight on or at a 45 degree angle. The only way you can score is to hold down a direction after shooting to put a ridiculous curve on the ball. This will then result in a goal approximately 80% of the time. I dont mind being able to score a few goals but 11-6 isnt an accurate depiction of the game of soccer. There was also a practice mode so you could ummtrain to hone your World Cup skills. Thats how it earned its point for playability.
Fun Factor: 1
This game is about as fun as playing 7UP with 2 people. If you have an extreme urge to play a soccer videogame, I recommend playing any other soccer game ever made besides this one.
