A SHEPHERD'S STORY
Black curtains to each side. A black sheet overhead at an angle from back to front. Behind this sheet is a set of small white christmas lights, with an occasional light protruding through the sheet. At the back of the scene sits a man, in front of him is an open fire (electric), and in front of that but angled to both sides are two young boys. The scene is lighted by the christmas lights, the campfire, and a small spot light at the front of the scene, which are operated by a dimmer switch. After the first scene actors go behind the back curtain where the man can read his lines for the rest of the play, and cardboard silhouettes will be placed around the fire.
An adult male dressed as a sheepherder sits at night gazing at the stars with two young boys, also sheepherders.

1st Boy: I love to look at the stars, they are so beautiful.
Man: Yes they are, and God gave them to us for seasons and years as well as a guide through the night.
1st Boy: Jesus?
Man: Yes, you see many ages ago before the foundation of the Earth, Jesus was in Heaven with the Father. And God said, let us make man in our image.
2nd Boy: Why did he do that?
Man: So he could have a relationship with us.
2nd Boy: Was he lonely?
Man: Oh no (laughingly), he is full of love, and he wants to share it with us. But mankind has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So in due season, the father sent a redemption for us, Jesus...his only begotten son.
1st Boy: How did he do that?
Man: I'll tell you the Story.
