Golf course madness

by Victor Fiorini
MOVE! Organisation

Angelo Xuereb, the man behind the proposed golf course at Tal-Virtu Rabat, seems to have run out of arguments in favour of his project.

He has now turned to cheap tactics; for example by saying that the Front Kontra l-Golf Kors has forced the farmers in activities against the golf course and in favour of agriculture. Statements like these only help to make the FKGK feel satisfied that Mr Xuereb has no real arguments to back his proposal. As a matter of fact, 90 farmers at Tal-Virtu have sent a letter individually opposing the golf course.

Having his proposed golf course located in a Rural Conservation Area, which is restricted for agricultural and ecological purposes, and also in violation of the Maltese Structure Plan, Mr Xuereb can only use cheap strategy to try and convince people to support his proposal: What could his end be but to turn to cheap strategies?

Mr Xuereb lies again in saying that a few of them (organisations in the FKGK) like Move! are little more than one-man-bands with a name and not much else.

Move! Organisation has 35 active members and we surely wont be intimidated by Mr Xuerebs threats of legal action. The difference between Move! Organisation and Mr Xuereb is that like all front members we are pressuring against the golf course for a cause and because we believe in this cause. If we really were a one-man band, our arguments would still be more convincing than those he used in his last press release.

Mr Xuerebs personal attacks on individual FKGK members show the deep state of panic he has sunk into. He is surely in alarm, especially because the decision on his project is soon to be decided by the MEPA board, and the FKGK is still planning more activities to oppose his project which we dare describe as madness.
