In the meeting the Mayor of Rabat said that if the farmers would be in favour of keeping the agricultural land which they work on, the Rabat local council would give its support to the farmers, and therefore would oppose the proposed development. The Front spokesperson expressed his appreciation of this position. "Now that 92 farmers have clearly expressed their postiion against the development of a golf course, it is clear that the local council is against the development and should therefore express its position on the issue in a clearer way." Joe Farrugia said that such a move would greatly help the farmers, who have been working on the land in question for generations. Farrugia also reminded the public that the proposed development of a golf course violates the structure plan and the Church-State agreement. In the meantime, cultural NGO Inizjamed has joined the Front Kontra l-Golf Kors, which is now made up of: Progressive Farmers Union, Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party, Friends of the Earth (Malta), Moviment Graffitti, Nature Trust, ECO � The Ecological Foundation, Vegetarian Society, Alternattiva Demokratika Studenti, Pembroke Residents Association, Inizjamed and Zminijietna.
