| FRONT KONTRA L-GOLF KORS [email protected] http://www.nogolfmalta.cjb.net Media Release Solidarity with Dr. Harry Vassallo The Front Kontra l-Golf Kors expresses its solidarity with Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson Dr. Harry Vassallo following Angelo Xuereb's decision to file a judicial protest against Dr. Vassallo over a letter the latter sent to Regent Hotels, reported in the Maltese press, about about the proposed golf course at Tal-Virtu'. The Front Kontra l-Golf Kors supports the letter written by Dr. Vassallo, which highlights the fact that the proposed development violates Malta's Structure Plan as well as the Church-State Agreement. The letter also states that AX Holdings are misleading potential customers by the way they are advertising the proposed golf course. The Front added that "what Dr. Vassallo wrote to Regent Hotels is nothing but the truth on the Golf Course issue. Nothing will stop the Front Kontra l-Golf Kors in its legitimate and peaceful efforts to safeguard agricultural land and the livelihood and legal rights of the farmers at Tal-Virtu'." The Front challenges AX Holdings "to publish the names of those farmers who are presently in favour of the development of a golf course on agricultural land at Verdala and have accepted the financial compensation offered by AX Holdings to voluntarily relinquish their rights as owners/tenant farmers. The Front Kontra l-Golf Kors is under the impression that Angelo Xuereb seems to be panicking and reacting to the growing consensus in Maltese civil society that a golf course in Verdala is a social and environmental disgrace. In fact Angelo Xuereb has already sued journalist Gillian Bartolo over the issue.The Front has previously expressed its full support to the journalist of the Malta Independent on Sunday.
