| Press Release 23/02/04 Rock Against the Golf Course Rock band Dripht has expressed its opposition to golf course development in Malta, dubbing it as unsustainable due to excessive land and water use. Dripht said: "To give an example, the proposed golf course at Tal-Virtu' will result in loss of agricultural land the size of Sliema if developed, to the detriment to agriculture in general and the farmers working the land at Tal-Virtu' in particular. Such a proposal violates Malta's structure plan as well as the agreement between the Maltese State and the Vatican. Malta cannot keep losing so much agricultural land." "We are therefore expressing our support to the farmers who are threatened with golf course development at Tal-Virtu'. Dripht shall also support all communities threatened with golf course development. Malta cannot afford to lose so much land for the benefit of a few. It would be better to give more importance to on tourism that generates more equitable income without damaging the environment, such as agro, cultural and eco-tourism." -- D-R-I-P-H-T Nicky Morales - Vocals, Guitar Patrick - Guitar Mike B - Drums Il-Fre - Bass www.dripht.com |
