Natural Mask
                             D. A. Foster

The total self cannot be been. We vary
from time to time, from situation to
situation, from perceiver to perceiver.
While we are only incompletely revealed,
by behavior and environment, we are all
part of the same nature. Layers of
experience change, shape, define usmake
us all different, yet our connection to
nature makes us essentially the same.

I chose sandwiched negatives to symbolize
our layers of experiences and our connection
unavoidable and inseparableto nature.
While winterıs snow and ice partially mask
the landscape, they do not completely
conceal or fundamentally change the scene.
The same holds true of humans. We are not
the same person to everyone. We are masked
by situation, environment, and perception.
Thus, we see only a part of who any one is at
any one time.
