His Masters Voice Book I've just finished reading Jim Keays' "His Master's Voice", an autobiographical book, published by Allen & Unwin.

If you want to find out what it was like being a star in the 60's & 70's then this is a great read. Jim tells the story of the rise and fall of the Masters with a series of anecdotes about events that happened along the way. The magic of the book is the way Jim manages to make you feel you are there listening to him tell it. There are several amusing tales and quite a few names left out for legal reasons, I guess, as Jim relates the adventures they got up to. My favourite is the story of how the Masters went to meet the fans, ended up playing a game of football with 2000 on each side with Jim being tackled constantly.

The book has got it all, sex, drugs and rock and roll (is there anything else? hmmm!! Yes quite a bit actually). The only thing I'd have liked is more info on the creative processes of Jim and Doug which is hinted at when he describes how Rio De Camiro came to be written.

It costs $24.95 and you can buy it on the internet. Email Master's Management for postage and handling costs.
Email Masters and you can get an autographed copy like I did.
