Liz Parker in many ways is the heart of Roswell. The stories generally began with a her voice in her journal. She is also the character that we know the best so far. We understand whats she's thinking through her reflections in her diary. The thoughts tell what she is thinking in this diary. Telling us about her daily life and what she is thinking about Max. Liz has grown up in a very sheltered and protected environment, living with her parents above the diner they own, the Crashdown Cafe, and working as a waitress. Up until the time that fate intervened and Max Evans saved her life, she had the sense of having an ordinary life in a structured world. Liz is a very sweet and kind, but also driven to control every aspect of her existence, as exemplified in her honor roll status and the way she balances school, work, and her friendships.

Liz is a wonderful and loyal friend, and a warm and giving person whose life was turned upside down by the discovery that the boy who saved her life, Max Evans, is, in fact, an alien. Liz very quickly grew to love Max, and care about his welfare, and through her love for Max, she has been forced to abandon the perfectly ordered world she has created for herself, and take actions to protect the person she loves. Liz feels Max and her have a connection noone else does. There is a sweetness to the character of Liz. Liz is a vital importance to the show and keeps the group together of her 2 best friends Maria and Alex and Max's sister and best friend Michael.
