Now we're ready to create a computer slide show of our poetry. Each student will create a slide using a photograph of themselves and their autobiographical poem.
1. Log-in to the computer.
2. Open the folder on the desktop named PowerPoint.
3. Go to Open. Find my name. Then, find your own name. Open the document.
4. First, import your photograph from the school database.
5. Second, enter your poem on the right side of the page in the text box.
6. Select Word Art and enter your first name.
7. Select a background color for your slide and make sure it works with the color of the font. If it doesn't, change the font color.
8. Last, add animation to your slide and save it. I will pull everyone's slides together to create one class project.
9. When you are finished, you may go to the Conclusion page and try some of the fun poetry activities listed there.
This will take two class sessions in the Computer Lab. Parent volunteers and/or a teaching assistant are needed. One adult for every three to four students is ideal. Be sure parents are familiar with Power Point.
