We've listened to Shel Silverstein recite his poetry. It is fun to listen to him because he uses so much expression in his voice. Now is your chance to show how well you can recite one of your poems. We'll be creating a video of each student in class reciting a favorite poem. Then, we'll show this video to the class and our families on "Open Microphone" day.
1. Select your favorite poem and memorize it.
2. Decide if you want to use any props. You might use a poster, object, costume, etc.
3. Then, practice reciting your poem using your props.
4. Wait for your name to be called by our parent volunteer. Do your best work. Have fun. If you make a mistake, don't worry. We can always record again.
Parent volunteers or a teaching assistant is needed to create the video.
Students should create invitations to send home to parents inviting them to school for "Open Microphone Day".
Students can be pulled one as a time to record their poem.
