Do you know what a chapbook is? Click on the book to link to an online dictionary. Look up the word "chapbook". Do you understand what you're making now?
You may create your chapbook at home on your computer if you choose. Or, you may hand write your poetry and draw illustrations. It is up to you how you want your book to look. There will not be any regular homework this week. Instead, you will be responsible for creating your chapbook.
Here are the requirements for your book:
1. You must have a cover with a title, your name, and the date.
2. You must include a table of contents and page numbers on each page after the table of contents.
3. You must include a picture of yourself and information about you. You may either draw the picture or use a photograph. See me if you need helps getting a photograph.
4. There can only be one poem per page.
5. Each poem must be illustrated with a computer image, drawing, or photograph.
6. Poems must be free of spelling errors and grammar errors. Have mom or dad double check your work.
7. Have fun creating it! I can't wait to see your work! We will share these during our "Open Microphone" day.
Be sure to make a copy of these directions to send home with students. Have some sample chapbook for them to look at.
