The rumors are flying about WLCW. The dirtsheets seem to indicate that Clash at the Canyon will be the final event for the fledgling company. The whole industry was convinced that WLCW was what would save it. But the investors turned out to not be solvent. Paychecks were bouncing. Invoices were being left unpaid. And week by week the talent was fleeing a sinking ship. At least, that's what the Reddit users would have you think. In the end, we don't really know what's going to happen. Regardless of a murky future, there is still a major even taking place this weekend, and CM Punk is stuck having to deal with Fergal Devitt AGAIN.

CM Punk could raise hell about his place on the card. But with the writing on the wall, there's really only thing left to do in his WLCW career. He's going to make an example out of Fergal Devitt and send everyone home with a reminder that CM Punk could have carried the WLCW to greatness. Instead, he had to put up with being an "also-ran" to guys like Matt Cardona and Cody Rhodes. They took the spot that Punk earned.

It doesn't matter what happens to WLCW. The title reigns of Cardona and Rhodes will be footnotes in a CM Punk's history. Fergal Devitt will get a short sentence of a small paragrapgh in CM Punk's Wikipedia entry. Because in the scope of a true Hall of Fame career, men like Fergal Devitt are just pawns. They're names on a page, a signifier of just what CM Punk was capable of doing. And like so many failed promotions before it, WLCW will just end up being a weird factoid on some mark's Top 10 YouTube video.

How about CM Punk? Well, we know the truth. CM Punk is Forever.

CM Punk stands alone as the sun sets over the Grand Canyon. A WLCW camera man records him as he speaks.

CM PUNK: Am I supposed to stand here and soak in the majesty of Earth's beauty? Am I supposed to be overcome with God's own power, that something like this could be created by centuries of a river flowing, carving a canyon out of the Earth? Frankly, I always found spots liek this to be cliche. All day long you see mini-vans and tour buses loaded with familes and vacationers. They drive for hours into the desert to get out and snap a selfie at this lookout spot. Meanwhile, the ones who really want to experience the Earth's true power will hike from Rim to Rim to Rim. They don't witness the majesty of the Grand Canyon. They conquer it!

Punk takes a few steps toward the canyon's edge.

CM PUNK: Guys like Fergal Devitt are trying to conquer the canyon. They've done the training and mental preparation for the arduous journey. And many of them will fail. It's simple statistics. The climb down is the asy part. But by the time they start to climb the other side, their lack of talent will catch up with them. The next think you know, they're being hauled out of here on the back of a mountain goat or getting airlifted by a helicopter. Just like in wrestling, most of the guys who seek out greatness will fail. It's just that simple. But me? I've already conquered the Grand Canyon, if you will. My career is a guaranteed Hall of Fame worthy career. I have absolutely nothing left to prove. And hell, for the past few years I've been the tourist standing at the lookout and sipping a latte. I've had no interest in trying to conquer anything.

Punk shakes his head as he thinks about what he's going to say next.

CM PUNK: But never the less, here I am. I'm an active competitor again. I'm climbing traversing the fucking canyon right alongisde Fergal Devitt and the rest of the idiiots in this company. But you know what's different? I have experience. I know the shortcuts. I've packed my gear properly. The things that will fry a guy as he tries to climb the the side of the Grand Canyon are already in my head. I like to call it "informed intuition." I know what will happen, and how things will play out before they happen. So what does my intuition say about fighting Fergal Devitt at Clash at the Canyon? It's going to be a hell of a fight. I'll admit it, the guy has talent. But I have talent and knowledge. And hell, he might get lucky and pull a fast one on me. I'm not perfect. But the odds are not in his favor. Experience outweighs luck. Knowledge usurps youth. And Fergal Devitt doesn't know the path ahead of him. He's climbling blind out of the Canyon with dwindling supplies and little hope. But me? I'm already at the top, relaxing and enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Punk turns and faces the camera before speaking one last time.

CM PUNK: I earned my spot at the top a long time ago, Devitt. But I know I have to fight to keep it. So what do you say? Do you have the guts to come and take it from me?

The scene fades to black.
