FUNCTION PRAYERS

GRADUATION CEREMONY: Almighty God, you are the source of our life, strength, and hope. Blend the knowledge of these graduates with the experience of life to make strong our community through their wisdom. May the abilities they have begun to sharpen be used to slice into the challenges of life, bringing out the best in their lives. Bless each graduate with patience to use what they have learned. Bless their families, spouses, parents, brothers, and sisters, for the support the gave through this journey. Now, as the celebration begins, may we rejoice in the accomplishments attained by the teachers and adminstrators in the lives of these graduates. For it is in your name we pray, O Lord. Amen.

NCO APPOINTMENT CEREMONY: Father in heaven, we do well to remind ourselves that the times demand a commitment from each of us to accept the responsiblities of the positions we hold in life. We fill many roles. We are (BRANCH OF SERVICE) members. We are parents and spouses. We are members of (COMPANIES, PLATOONS, SQUADRONS, etc.) or organizations. We are American citizens, participants in a larger society. Yet here we assume a special trust, one given to us by our nation which pledges us to defend the liberties we all love. Grant that these men and women who are here to be recognized for their achievement, and given new status among their peers, will give their very best to the (BRANCH OF SERVICE), to their nation, and to their God. For it is in your name we pray. Amen.

ENLISTED PROMOTION CEREMONY: Eternal God, we pause to give you thanks and to recognize a very important milestone in the lives of these men and women. As they embark upon new challenges and responsibilities, may they be reminded that they are not alone. Many others have preceded them, and the examples of the past are a legacy to us all. May we remember the heritage which has been given us and continue to do our best to uphold traditions of excellence. And now may this food we are about to eat be used to nouish and strengthen us in the service of our country and the cause of peace. This we ask in you holy name. Amen.

PROFESSIONAL MILITARY EDUATION GRADUATION: Our Father, we thank you for all the tings that have brought us to this time--the gift of freedom, the power to choose, minds to learn, opporutnities to grasp and the power to see things through. On a more personal level, we thank yo for the people whose help and ingluence have blessed our lives--paretns, relatives, wives, husbands, friends and fellow students. We also thank you for the opporutnities of educaiton which the (BRANCH OF SERVICE) provides and for the faculty, staff and assistancs who diligently prepared and teach their lessons. Now we pray your special blessings upon these graduates. We thank you for all they have learned and achieved. May your guiding hand rest upon them as they continue their careers, and may they serve you and our country with distinctino. Amen.

LUNCH INVOCATION: Almight God, in your wisdom and grace, you have given to us this special occasion in which to enjoy food and fellowship with our good friends. We are grateful for the bond of friendship and support, of care and concern which makes us one spirit. Bless our nation, O Lord, as we undertake new goals to strengthen our faith, to protect our people and care for those less fortunate than ourselves. Now, let our food be blessed and our fellowship be enriched as we give thanks for your provision. Amen.

I was asked to give the invocation at a Top Three Induction Ceremony recently. I contacted the Chapel for assitance, and to my amazement, they have a book of prayers covering just about any military occasion you might want a prayer for. These are just a few. So now you know to call the chapel or just use one of these when it's your turn.
