Time travel films always appeal to me, and this is a pretty unusual one (the characters themselves don't time travel). I know it's a remake of a Korean film, but apart from that the plot was very original and fresh. The 'temporal distortion' aspect was handled very well and cleverly in some cases, leading to some interesting and clever situations. The two leads, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock, are separate for most of the film due to the nature of the story but when they do meet it's clear that they still have great chemistry, going back to Speed years ago (also, Sandra Bullock still looks great too). On the down side, I did find the film a bit long-winded in places and the running time felt a bit stretched. One 'twist' near the end was fairly predictable too, but I still liked how the film finished. It was a typical happy ending but the film had created enough goodwill for the characters that I wanted it to work out well. A diverting and generally enjoyable film.
The summary
An interesting (if completely illogical) plot and a good lead pairing make The Lake House worth seeing.
