Sauron will have dominion of all life on this Earth, even until the ending of the world.
The time of the Elves is over. Do we leave Middle Earth to its fate ? Do we let them stand alone ?
In The Two Towers the journey continues for the members of the broken Fellowship. Frodo and Sam continue their dangerous road towards Mordor. Facing the labyrinth of Emyn Muil, they encouter the creature Gollum, who will travel with them as a guide of dubious trust. Leaving the rocks of Emyn Muil behind, more danger awaits in the Dead Marshes and even in the beautiful lands of Ithilien, where they meet Faramir of Gondor, younger brother of Boromir, peril lies lurking.

Their fellow Hobbits
Merry and Pippin, however, do not encounter any less danger. Captured by Isengard Uruk-Hai,   they are taken into the plains of Rohan, where they only narrowly escape and meet with the ancient Ent named Treebeard, leader of Fangorn Forest. Treebeard takes them to his home and as they become friends, the Hobbits try to persuade the Ent to join in the battle for Middle-Earth.

Aragorn and his companions Legolas and Gimli follow the young Hobbits' tracks into Rohan, and towards Fangorn, where they meet yet another, now quite reborn member of the Fellowship: Gandalf the White. The wizard takes them to Edoras, capital of Rohan, where they must aid King Theoden and his people to fight against Saruman's threat. After many schemes are unravelled, the Rohan seek refuge in the stronghold of Helm's Deep, where they hope to resist the Uruk-Hai.  But that hope is failing and without help, more will be lost soon, than the stronghold alone.
