1. She shines a light into my darkness and I am blinded by her faith. I cannot see her halo. She wants to share my sorrow. Why does she think Im worth the pain? 2. She drags the cross from off my shoulders. I drive a nail into her heart again. Just when Ive lost all feeling. She spreads her wings of healing. Why does she think Im worth the pain? * One kiss and Im forgiven. I should be driving her insane. No guilt in this religion. Why does she think Im worth the pain? 3. She twists the knife for my salvation. My pride the ram. Her love the blade. Scarlet to snow this winter. Her saint redeems this sinner. Why does she think Im worth the pain? * One kiss and Im forgiven. I should be driving her insane. No guilt in this religion. Why does she think Im worth the pain? + She walks on glass that I have shattered. I break her trust and fall from grace. This lame man runs from the only one who matters. What does she see that makes her stay? * One kiss and Im forgiven. Oh, I'm driving her insane. No guilt in this religion. Thank God she thinks Im worth the pain. * One kiss. Im forgiven. No way I could repay. No guilt in this religion. Thank God she thinks Im worth the pain. Words: Steven Stewart Music: Steven Stewart& Miika Stlhane 1998

I wrote an early draft of these lyrics in '97. The music I had was interesting, but when I recorded the demo something was missing. This was supposed to be one of our best songs and it wasn't.
When I started working with Miikka, he had a great acoustic riff that he was working with. While I was trying to think of new lyrics for his music, I dropped in the old Worth the Pain lyrics just to help me create a melody. Well, the lyrics stayed and I wrote a new chorus. This is again back to being one of my favorite fast songs.
The lyrics are about one of my best friends who really stood by me, supported me, and gave me her all when I really didn't have anything to give her. I still have no idea why she thinks I was worth the pain, but I thank God she was there for me.
We were only going to record three songs for our latest demo, but had some extra time and recorded this one as well. I wanted great harmonies on the chorus, but we just did what we could with the time we had.
