Explanation of classification and copyright
Introduction
The formula 16 HP class is a class of trully lightweight boats. Water absorption by the hulls is in direct conflict with this important characteristic of the class. Dry hulls are also important in keeping your hulls in pristine condition.

Catamarans that are stored inside or have a shelter of some sort can leave the imspection ports open to ventilate the hulls and thus dry out the inside of the hulls. Catamarans with beach front storage without sheltered storage can't leave off these hatches for the hulls will accumulate sand and debrie otherwise.

So what to do ?

Well Kirt Simmons of the Formula 16 group has found a surprisingly simple solution. The
Elbow Sewer adapter ! and he bought it of the shelve at WallMart.
Components list

-1- Of-the-shelve Sewer Elbow 4 in 1 adapter.
-2- A piece of your wifes or Girlfriends old panties.
-3- A strong bungee cord or tape that is resistant to alot of UV radiation (Sun light)
How does it work ?
The elbow adapter has a tapered end with threading and therefor it fits to most of the common (standardized) inspection hatches. And you can immediately screw it in.

However in order to keep the "Horizontal" rain out as well as insects and debrie that might be blow into the hull via the horizontal inlet of the elbow adapter, a piece of pantyhose is fitted over the inlet. (See the picture above)

For people living in tornado conditions an extra netting to protect the pantyhose might be wise. Some piece of fly netting used for window frames or doors might be a very good option.

The elbow adapter will prevent rain from entering the hulls and the pantiehose (+reinforcing netting) will prevent insects, sand or debrie from getting into the hulls. All this while the fine openings in the pantyhose do allow fresh air in and the moisture out of the hulls.

Kirt had his elbow adapters pointing toward the sterns and would fit them as soon as his boat was layed up on the trailor and while driving home.
Simple, cheap, available and home-buildable. What more can you wish for
