Introduction
There was some doubt wether the Bim F16 design was up to a par with the other Formula 16 HP designs like the Stealth F16 and the Taipan 4.9 with a genaker. Valerio Petrucci, the son of mr Petrucci owner of the Bimare yard, has spoken out and set things straight. Here you'll find his quotes
The communique

(...) means that a section of text has been left out to shorten the communique

Since I read some false info about the BIM 16 on this Forum (mostly sent by anonymous guys), I feel obliged to let you know the real facts.

The correct weight of any 2001 (ready to sail) BIM 16 is 95 kg or 209.5 lbs (aluminium mast without spi and spi kit)

The carbon mast version, the one sailed by WF Oliver, is 90 Kg or 198.5 lbs.
(again excluding spi and spi kit)

For Spi and (factory) Spinnaker kit add 6 Kg or 13.3 lbs

All the other datas provided are related to older boats or are false at all.

BIMARE offers the BIM 16 with 2 different spis: the smaller one is 12 sqm (130sqft), the biggest is 15.6 sqm or 168 sqft.

I would like to remind (...) that carbon masts - differently from aluminum mast -may be built at your exact specifications. Therefore, if requested, RIBA, our supplier, may build for us an A class section capable to support 3 BIG people on the wire, or a spi halyard very - very close to the top.

Besides I would like to point out that we at BIMARE went for the 9 m mast and the A class main to meet our customers' need to sail well doublehanded.

We at BIMARE think that a small jib have an harmful effect on boat's performance!

Now with these assurances a sailor can effectively order a F16 at the Bimare yard.

Fully rigged with a carbon mast standard at a price below 10.000 euro ! A special US offer is the same craft with extra goodies for USD 8500,-, a demo BIM F16 can be bought in US for USD 7000,- (the same boats as in the picture

The platform is up to specs and the on request they will order a mast for you at RIBA that will take two man on the wire and that is fitted with a higher genaker hound for the F16 HP sized genaker. Bimare orders these (sails and masts) at third parties so it can be expected that they will be delivered at F16 specs for the as good as the same price.

Several have pointed out that the Bim F16 in 2-up mode doesn't have a jib like the other F16 HP's. The Bimare yards indicates that they believe that such a jib will hurt the boats performance under the rule and that therefor the boat is without.

The F16 HP group feels that this will address all point raised with respect to the Bim 16 or Bim F16
