履歷表 求職信一般都要附履歷表。今天就談談「履歷表」的英文說法。美式英文稱「履歷表」為résumé，學術界則例外，習慣稱為curriculum vitae。 Résumé的重音符號(accent)可以略去，寫作resume。這個resume是名詞，和解作「繼續」、「再開始」的動詞resume讀法不同：resume有三個音節(syllable)，讀['rezu:mei]；動詞resume則只有兩個音節，讀[ri'zju:m]。 I sent copies of my resume to dozens of possible employers without getting any reply即「我把履歷表副本寄到幾十家公司求職，都沒有回音」。 Résumé的本義是「摘要」，例如：Could you give me a résumé of what happened?（你可以大概告訴我發生了甚麼事嗎？）由於是摘要，résumé這種履歷表，並沒有curriculum vitae那麼詳細。 Curriculum vitae原是拉丁文：curriculum即course（進程），vitae有life（生命）的意思，合起來就是course of life（生命歷程）。這兩個字也許會使你聯想到一些同源的字，例如curriculum和course一樣可解作「課程」，vitamin則是「維生素」等。Curriculum vitae的複數形式是curricula vitae或curriculums vitae。 無論文字上還是口頭上，curriculum vitae一般略作cv或CV，例如：The new professor's cv was very impressive（新來那位教授的履歷很了不起）。至於英式英文，履歷表一律稱為CV，沒有résumé、curriculum vitae的分別。 |
