更換影印機 公司的影印機不能用了。亞斯明說：The boss has already decided to replace it。 更換影印機，一般會用trade in方式。Trade in是「換購」，即棄舊換新，而購買新的用品時把舊物交出，可獲折扣。例如：Should we have a technician repair the copier, or trade it in for a new one?（我們應該請技術員修理影印機，還是應該以「舊換新」方式另買一部？）名詞trade-in是指用於換購的舊物，例如：I gave them my old car as a trade-in（我把舊汽車交給他們，換購新的）。Trade-in price是「舊換新」所省的價錢，例如：The trade-in price of the old copier was $300（那部舊影印機換購價，值三百元）。 亞斯明又說，老闆準備買一部多功能影印機：He's going to go for a multifunctional photocopier。今天，很多東西都是多功能的，這英文叫做multifunction或multifunctional：兩個字都是形容詞。With this multifunction(al) mobile phone, you can make calls, take photos and receive email messages即「有了這個多功能行動電話，你可以打電話、拍照以及接收電郵訊息」。 至於go for，是動詞片語(phrasal verb)，可以解作「挑選」，to go for a multifunctional photocopier即「選擇購買多功能影印機」。這裡不妨再舉一例：Just as I expected, she went for the red dress rather than the blue one（正如我所料，她要那套紅色的衣裳，而不是那套藍色的）。 |
