To make the shortlist for a
manager's job in
our biggest bank is a real achievement.

Eva:Victoria's done ever so well, hasn't she? Loretta:Yes, to make the shortlist for a manager's job in our biggest bank is a real achievement. Eva:When's the interview? Loretta:Next week. She told me that it's not just an interview, but a whole day with tests and exercises as well. Eva:Sounds really tough. Rather her than me. Loretta:Yes, but she's very capable and pretty resilient, so I think she'll do well. |

Shortlist和ever so 今天先談to make the shortlist的shortlist。 (1) There were more than one hundred applicants for the job, but I shortlisted only ten of them for the interview(申請這份工作者有一百多人,但我只挑選了十個人面試)(2) Our company is on the shortlist for the construction work(建築工程的候選承辦商之中,我們公司獲得入選進一步的考慮名單)。 Make the shortlist的make,這 G不可解作「做」。 (1) I must make the peak before they do(我一定要在他們之前到達山頂)。(2) The scandal made the newspapers(那醜聞上了報紙)。To make the shortlist即「上了精挑候選名單」。 現在談Victoria's done ever so well的ever so。 (1) Thank you/Thanks ever so much(真謝謝你)。(2) His lecture was ever so boring(他演講沉悶得很)。 (1) It was ever such a boring lecture(那場演講沉悶得很)。(2) The new chemistry teacher is ever such a good person(新的化學教師是個很好的人)。 His lecture was very boring或It was a very boring lecture等,但語氣比ever so或ever such較弱。 |
