深色或淺色一點 影印本不清楚，有時是contrast的問題。 Contract即「對照」，用來說影印，是指「明暗度對比」。和contrast其實同義的是resolution，即「清晰度」。I pressed the button to adjust/increase/reduce the contrast/resolution即「我按鈕調節/加強/減低明暗度對比/清晰度」。 此外，你可以用lighter、darker二字來說「淺色一點」或「深色一點」，例如：To make a lighter（或darker）copy，use the Lighter（或Darker）setting on your copier（要影印本淺色/深色一點，可使用影印機的淺色/深色設定）。Set作動詞，有「固定」的意思，setting即機器等調節後的設定，例如：Please adjust the volume setting of your radio - it's too high（請你把收音機的音量調一下 ─ 音量太大了）。有時，影印不清楚，是因為原稿本身難以印得清楚。你可以說：The original doesn't copy/photocopy well（原稿無法影印得清楚）。一般而言，黑色墨水比藍色、紅色的影印效果都好一點：Black ink copies/photocopies better than blue or red。留意這個copy是動詞，指「有某種複製效果」，用主動語態(active voice)，不應用被動語態(passive voice)，例如不要說The original isn't copied well、Black ink is copied better than blue等。Just what the doctor ordered是成語，直譯是「正是醫生吩咐的」，意譯則是「正符合需要」或「十分稱意」，例如：A good book is just what the doctor ordered for a cold night（寒夜有一本好書讀，最是稱意）。 |
