EC CLUB, BRUSSELS

The EC Gaelic Club of Brussels will host Round 5 of the Euro GAA League at the British School of Brussels in Tervuren on Sat 30 June from 1pm on. [Check out the 4 earlier Rounds on www.geocities.com/european_gaa in particular on the Brux slot under the "European GAA Clubs" icon.]

Off the field, food & drink will be served while, on the field, there will be:-

KIDS' GAA: sending off the 25 Brux kids travelling to Ireland the following weekend, with the help of generous sponsorship from the JACK O'SHEA BUTCHERS SHOP, to represent Europe at the 2001 GAA Feile Peil na nOg in Thurles from 6-8 July. The previous weekend, 22-25 June, Brux will host a visit by 20 kids & 6 adults from the SYLAUN/COROFIN GAA CLUB in Galway who will provide a much needed warm up for our youngsters for Thurles [Contact point - Gerry McGovern 02 296 7371 (w), or e-mail to [email protected] .]

LADIES' GAA: Brussels V Paris, a repeat of the game played in Luxembourg on 26 May which the Brux ladies narrowly won. [Contact point - Patricia Hickey 02 282 3275 (w) or e-mail to [email protected] .]

MENS' GAA: 7-a-side, panels of 10 with unlimited substitutions. Visiting teams will include Luxembourg, Paris, The Hague, Munich & our guests from Ireland for the past 2 years, The Euro-Stars (we'll possibly also have Guernsey & Rennes too). 6 mens' teams (Brussels, Guernsey, Luxemburg, Paris, Munich & The Hague) playing a round-robin of 5 games each, with the top 2 into Final;

3 ladies' teams (from Brussels, Luxembourg & Paris) to follow up on the Brussels-Paris match in Luxembourg in May;

Brussels kids to have final workout before travelling to Thurles to represent Europe at Feile Peil na nOg from 6-8 July next

1. 7 minutes each half

2. 2 minute ‘sin-bin’ for sending off

3. maximum 3 solos, 2 solos-1 hop, hop-solo-hop, otherwise a free

4. sideline and free kicks – from hands

5. kicks-out – from ground/hands on end-line

6. subs enter at mid-field

7. no 50s

8. scores from inside opponent’s half only

9. ALL Referees' DECISIONS ARE FINAL

Two points for each game won, one for a draw. Score difference to decide placings (failing that scores for, failing that toss of coin).

From Paris, coming North East up the E19:-

Turn right off E19 onto the Brux Ring East going anti-clockwise towards Waterloo and/or Zaventem Airport;

Go past Waterloo & continue until you go into the tunnel immediately after the un-numbered Exit for E411/Luxembourg/Namur;

Take the next Ring Exit 1 (very quickly after tunnel) and turn right onto the N3 towards Tervuren and/or Leuven:

From Luxembourg, coming North up the E411:-

Exit right off E411 onto Brussels Ring East going anti-clockwise towards Zaventem Airport, Antwerp etc;
Almost immediately after this, take the next Ring Exit 1 and turn right onto the N3 towards Tervuren and/or Leuven:

From Liege/Cologne, coming West on the E40:-

Exit left onto Brussels Ring East going clockwise towards Waterloo/Luxemburg etc;
Take the second Ring Exit (quite a big one with several roads leading off it) and turn left onto the N3 towards Tervuren/Leuven:

From Holland/Antwerp, coming South on the E19:-

Exit left onto Brussels Ring East going clockwise towards Zaventem Airport/Luxembourg/Waterloo etc;
Take the second Ring Exit after that (the one with several roads leading off it) and turn left onto the N3 towards Tervuren/Leuven.

OK, from all directions, all now turning onto the N3 towards Tervuren/Leuven:-

After about 3 km.s, at the second roundabout, take the third exit left towards Leuven/Bertem;

After 1km will be the African Museum on your right with a big concrete statue of an elephant opposite on the left;

Another 200 metres on the right is the entrance to the British School of Brussels
