Elie Wiesel as a boy 

Elie Wiesel: The main character of the book the third and only son of Schlomo Wiesel. He is first interested in religion and wanted to study the Talmud and the Kabbal. Elie was later sent to a concentration camp, which is where the majority of the book took place. Elie Wiesel faced numerous challenges in the concentration camps and the freight trains that he rode on while traveling.

Shlomo Wiesel, Elie's father

Shlomo Wiesel: Elie Wiesel's father, he ran a store in Sighet. He would eventually get sent to concentration camps such as Gleiwitz and Auschwitz. There, he gets slapped by a Gypsey inmate who was in charge because he was asking where the bathroom was. He later dies in the book because of his injuries by SS soldiers and dysentary. 

A picture that may be the identification of Moishe the Beadle 

Moishe the Beadle: A religious pauper whose trained in some Jewish subjects such as Kabbalism and the Talmud. He was sent to the concentration camp early before Elie Wiesel and the Jewish community of Sighet. He described the horrors of the concentration camp that Moishe was residing. Unfortunately, not a single Jew believed in him based on the fact that something horrific like his eye witness view would never happen.

Madame Schachter: A woman on one of the fright trains that Elie rode on, Madame Schachter saw a fire and she exclaimed to everyone on the train to a concentration camp, "Fire! I see a fire! I see a fire!" LIke Moishe the Beadle, she wasn't believed by the passengers and the fact that both the people were thought of being mad.

Juliek: A young, Jewish musician who plays the violin. He appeared later in the book at a death march where he was heard playing the violin.

Pipel: A young, generous, and charismatic boy who was executed, his execution deepfully affected Elie.

TziporaTzipora: Elie's youngest sister. SHe was last seen in thebook holding her mother's hand while Elie, Shlomo, Tzipora herself, and her mother were be segregated into lines by gender.

Béa: Elie's middle sister that was mentioned in the book.

Hilda WieselHilda: Elie's oldest sister that was mentioned in the book.

Stein: The character who wanted to hear news about the Wiesel family. Elie stated that the Wiesel family is in great condition but he was just lying.

Rabbi Elihou: A rabbi in a Polish community. During one of the winter marches, his son abandons his father and made a prayer that Elie Wiesel would never be like that with his father.

Franek: A Pole and a former student from Warsaw, he attempts to make Elie Wiesel give up his gold crown that he has on his teeth
