Representing Japanese promotion FMW when he appears for Extreme Championship Wrestling, Masato Tanaka is the most popular Japanese performer to ever compete in ECW.

Tanaka is a multi-faceted wrestler who meshes strong scientific skills with brutal brawling as a means to wear out his opponents. His most potent finishing maneuvers are the Roaring Elbow, a spinning discus elbow to the face and the Diamond Dust, a forward somersault off the ropes into a stunner. Both moves have brought Masato incredible fame and fortune internationally, and they are just a small part of his arsenal.

Debuting in the United States in 1998, Masato took ECW by storm as he ripped through the competition and electrified the American fans like no Japanese performer ever before. Wielding a steel chair as well as Balls Mahoney ever has, Tanaka found the competition in ECW to his liking, soon teaming with both Mahoney and Tommy Dreamer to become the ECW World Tag Team champions.

The crown jewel in Masato's resume was a victory for the World Heavyweight championship, solidifying his place in the annals of Extreme Championship Wrestling history.

Wherever former World Heavyweight champion Masato Tanaka steps in the ring, excitement follows!
