I add this section for readers who are not located in the
United Kingdom and may not know what certain foods are. There are "Harry Potter ONLY"
foods as well, but I have included standard British cuisine (or French, etc) for
those of us who do now know what the kids are actually eating.
REAL FOODS:
Baklava~ A popular sweet pastry found in many cuisines of the Middle East and
the Balkans, made of chopped nuts layered with phyllo pastry. With its high
sugar and fat content, it is very rich.
Black Pudding~The pudding was invented in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. The
ingredients include pig's blood, suet, bread, barley and oatmeal. Black
pudding is usually served as part of a traditional full English breakfast.
Bouillabaise~ Usually a simple fish stock containing different kinds of cooked
fish and shellfish. This is complemented with a variety of herbs and spices
such as garlic, chillies, bay leaves, fennel and saffron. Vegetables such as
leeks, onions, tomatoes and celery are boiled together to produce a rich
flavour. The exact proportions vary by cook and region.
Chipolatas~
Chocolate Gatteau~consists of several layers of chocolate cake, with whipped
cream and cherries between each layer. These layers are topped with additional
whipped cream, maraschino cherries, and chocolate shavings. In some European
traditions sour cherries are used both between the layers and for decorating
the top. Traditionally, Kirschwasser (cherry brandy) is added to the cake,
although other liquors are also used (rum is common in Austrian recipes).
Crumpets~
Mince Pies~ The origin of the word 'mincemeat' is often of interest, especially
as it does not appear to contain any meat whatsoever. Up to Victorian times,
the mince(meat) pie would have actually have been a spiced meat pie with some
dried fruit. It has evolved to the point where the only meat in the pie is in
the form of suet, an historical throwback. The filling is nowadays made from
fruit mincemeat (fruitmince to North Americans) containing dried fruit such as
raisins, currants, cherries, apricot, candied peel; spices such as cinnamon or
nutmeg; nuts such as walnuts or chopped almonds; suet; and some kind of alcohol,
usually either brandy or rum. Although no longer a meat pie, the mince pie is
suitable for vegetarians only if the suet is replaced by vegetable fat.
Once cooked, the pie is finished off with a delicate dusting of either caster
sugar or icing sugar on top.
Spotted Dick~ is a steamed suet pudding containing dried fruit, usually
currants. The dessert is especially popular in the United Kingdom, usually
served either with custard or with butter and brown sugar.
Trifle~

Bertie Bot's Every Flavor Bean~ Jelly Beans of EVERY flavor. Flavors include
Chocolate, Peppermint, Spinach, Liver, Tripe, Booger, Earwax, Sprouts,
Pepper and Sardine.

Chocolate Frogs~ Enchanted to jump, they are not real frogs (don't worry). Each
frog comes with a collectible card with a famous witch or wizard on it. Some

Alberic Grunnion, Circe, Paracelsus, Merlin and Cliodna.
