| Parenthood - Soundwave and Cassettes One dominant part of Soundwave's character and essence is his love and devotion to his cassettes. Although he doesn't usually show outright affection for them, throughout the episodes his devotion to the little robots becomes increasingly clear. He shows confidence in their abilties enough to send them into battle, yet protective enough to shelter them if the need arises. For example, In "Roll for it," when Ravage gets hurt, he immediately runs to Soundwave for protection. Soundwave in response stands protectively infront of him and fires at Prowl, the one who harmed his precious cassette. In rare moments, he even shows affection towards them. In "Heavy Metal War," Soundwave ejects all of his cassettes so that they could watch the battle between Megatron and Optimus Prime with him. He even pets Ravage. Other times, he will allow one of his birds to perch on his shoulder as he goes about his business. Finally, if the going gets tough, the cassettes are all capable of going to perhaps the safest place possible for them - Soundwave's chest compartment. There they could sleep comfortably, without the worry of being attacked during their slumber. Any and all enemies would have to, literally, go through Soundwave in order to get to them. Even Megatron acknowledges them as more than just 'Soundwave's cassettes'. If you look at Blaster, it is a rare occasion that you will even see his cassettes at all, much less them acting independently. In some episodes, Laserbeak will have orders directly from Megatron to fulfill some sort of mission. Megatron treats the cassettes as if they were his own soldiers, which immediately shows the respect he has for Soundwave and his creations. |

| Although Soundwave is not the greatest warrior ever to grace the Decepticons, he is quick to place his own life on the line to defend his cassettes. | |||||||||||||||||
