SUPERHEIST - IDENTICAL REMOTE CONTROLLED REACTIONS

This album was always going to be a test for Superheist. Berger (singer) left the band last year and was replaced by Joey Biro on vocals, so naturally young Joey had expectations to live up to, and boy didn't he shine. Identical Remote Controlled Reactions loses the rapping that was seen on The Prize Recruit and replaces it with Mr. Biro crooning, to crying, to crunching... all in the same song, as seen in album opener "Liberate", which begins with Joey letting out an enormous, empowering "RRRIIIIIISSSSEEEE".

IRCR still contains, and even betters, the atmospheric keyboards that were seen in Superheists old stuff and it still works better than ever! From the soft and "angelic" (forgive the pun) "A Diginified Rage" to the bashing "Karma Division", this album is quality through and through. It has a few "interlude" tracks that are just little musical snippets which also add a nice bit of flavour. All in all... brilliant. Definately the best Australian metal album of 2002 (that I heard). Go Buy.
