Beauty and the Beast

Work in Progress

This tape (also available as a book) is a very rare find.  It includes individual interviews with several of the main characters including Paige's perspective of her character, Belle!

Now you can experience one of the most fascinating moments in film history, when, for the first time ever, the Walt Disney Company allowed a public screening of a work in progress.

It was opening night of the 1991 New York Film Festival . . . Beauty and the Beast was just 70 percent complete, at various stages of animation, including line drawings, rough sketches, and conceptual scene paintings.  The spectacular climax was at this stage only penciled in.  However, upon the film's conclusion, the crowd responded with a rare standing ovation!

In addition to this special "Work in Progress" presentation, on this same cassette you will receive an added bonus - The Making of Beauty and the Beast, an insider's look behind the scenes, hosted by the voice of "Cogsworth," David Ogden Stiers.  Plus, a special prelude to the "Work In Progress," The Four Stages of Animation, that takes you through an animated sequence of Beauty from concept to completed scene!
