| Old Phalaenopsis Spike When your Phal spike begins to dry up it is time to cut the spike off. As with any time that you make a cut or divide an orchid MAKE SURE THE CUTTERS ARE STERILE. I typically use cutters that have been heated to RED HOT with a propane tourch so that when the cut is made it will also cauterize it at the same time. The spike from "Last year" was only cut off about 4 months prior to this photo. The new bloom spike is already about a foot long. |
