Finding it.

SO WHY YOU WOULD

WANT TO DO A SEARCH

ON ANY WEB SITE?

HERE ARE MANY EXAMPLES.

This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for almost EVERY USER of this web site as it saves a lot of work attempting to scan pieces of information with your eyes.

For example, if you come across a large web site FULL of way too much text and you need to find a phrase or a word you will find these methods invaluable.

THIS IS BRILLIANT! Type any word in the box below like a particular denomination or Pastor's name. It will tell you where you can find that information on this web site.

THIS IS A VERY POWERFUL TOOL and can be used in such manner of ways-

Here are some very different examples of what TYPE of words you might like to look for in this particular web site.

Enter part of your churches name to find all references of your church in other pages. i.e. Use only "Spring St" instead of only "AOG".

Enter any Pastor's name to find out all references to that Pastor.

Do you want a new name for your church or ministry? The only way to check is to enter the word/s into this area to see if another church has already taken it.

Enter the numbers "10.00am" or "10am" to find a service that starts at that time!

For example, let us say you are a Chinese born Christian and you would like to go to a service where they speak Chinese. Enter separately "Asian" or "Cantonese" or "Mandarin" and not only "Chinese" if your looking for a "Chinese" church.

Enter the word "LUNCH" to find where you can get a free lunch or the word "Dinner" to find sponsored food if you come across a homeless person who needs this.

Enter number "10." to find all the interesting bits of each church.

Enter the number "14." to learn Pastor's names.

If you would like to find what service I went to last weekend enter the date like this "30 May 04".

Other websites tend not to have search boxes so the below are other useful, time saving ways of searching.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
***
METHOD ONE.

WHAT'S AN EASY WAY TO FIND STUFF? It can take much longer but this is a really neat trick when your searching for any information on ANY SINGLE web page which has a LOT of text. I personally use this method all the time as often I've got a general idea which web page it will be on.

What I do is this.
1. Visually browse through the home pages for the page you want.
2. Open the page.
3. Click on "Edit" on the top left of the screen;
4. Click "Find";
5. Enter a phrase like "Korean" or whatever;
6. Enter;
7. Click "Find next." It's that simple.

When the blue box appears "push" the box to the top of the screen. It always gets in the way visually. Do this by holding the left mouse down on the blue strip of the box window (it's the larger, deep blue 5 millimetre strip at the top of the box) and then drag it to the very top of the screen so it's out of the way.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
** METHOD TWO

WHAT'S A MUCH MORE COMPREHENSIVE WAY TO FIND STUFF?

HOW DO I SAVE ALL THIS INFORMATION SO I DON'T HAVE TO BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET WHILE READING AND FINDING STUFF?

Because it's difficult to scan with your eyes 92,000 words IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU USE YOUR OWN COMPUTER TO FIND SPECIFIC INFORMATION THAT COULD BE ABSOLUTELY ANYWHERE IN THIS WEB SITE.

(FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOUR ASIAN OR PAPUAN AND YOU WANT TO FIND SOME CHURCHES WITH SIMILAR FOLK IN HERE, THEN YOU WILL FIND IT REALLY DIFFICULT TO SEARCH EVERY PAGE OF THIS WEB SITE USING THE FIRST METHOD.)

HOW TO USE METHOD TWO-

In this exercise you will learn a brilliant technique.

You will learn how to SAVE the web site information to your own computer in "Word" and then use your computer to FIND multiple mentions of any word.

FIRST YOU CAN SAVE THE TEXT (at least OF ALL THE CHURCHES) IN THIS WEB SITE IN "WORD" OR "NOTEPAD", (The word processor "Notepad" might not look as good but it is handy as it uses 1/4 of the space as "Word", which means it's also handy if you need to put it to 3.25 inch floppy disk.)

DO THIS-
1. Go to your desktop (where all the icons are).
2. Right click on the green space
3. Hover mouse over "New"
4. Click on "Folder"
5. Name the folder "Churches."
6. Now save the web site in "Word" or "Notepad"-
7. First open up a web page.
8. Press "Ctrl N" so another mirrored window opens up so you can still read this screen and operate the other screen of this same web site. Read this for explanation- This is a brilliant technique. It's a very simple technique but it seems at first very complicated and may take 20 minutes to learn. The novice computer user must learn this for all internet use in order to function on a minimum level. At the very bottom of your screen is a bar with now 2 boxes which are called "windows". Click on each of them backwards and forwards many times until your comfortable in your understanding that all you are doing is simply switching windows. (In the very right top corner are 3 small boxes. The first from the left is minimize which temporarily collapses the window. The middle box makes the window half the size, click it again to bring it to full size. The right box closes the window. Practice minimizing.) Of course, what you now do in one window will not affect the other window.
9. Click one of the windows so this web site appears.
10. Go back to the "home" page either by pressing "back" on the top left of screen or by pressing "home" on the web site.)
11. When your at "Home" press "An" or whatever to open up several churches.
12. When it opens, hover mouse over the top left of text and left click and hold thus dragging the mouse down until the text highlights.
13. Keep dragging down, dragging past the taskbar so the entire page is highlighted
14. Press "Ctrl C" - this saves temporarily the information.
15. Open up "Word" > "Start" > "Programs" > "Office 97 (Or whatever) > "Word"
16. When a new file opens up, press "Ctrl V" (The information should now appear on your computer)
17. Click "File" (top left of screen)
18. Click "Save as"
19. Name it "Churches An" or whatever.
20. Repeat for all the web pages you want, until at least all church pages are saved. Now all the documents are saved to your computer. A big advantage is you don't have to be connected to the internet to use this web site now.

HOW TO NOW FIND WORDS IN THE SAVED INFORMATION-
1. Click on "START" (which is at the bottom left of your screen)
2. Hover over "FIND"
3. Click "Files or Folders" and a window will appear
4. Click "Browse."
5. Navigate until you find the folder you saved all the information to. (Should be called "Churches, see the previous step 5 above.) (Click the "+" signs to open up more folders within folders)
6. Click the folder so it's highlighted.
7. Click "OK."
8. Find "Containing text"
9. Type any word like "Chinese" (in order to find any Chinese churches)
10. Click "Advanced" tab
11. Find "Of type"
12. Arrow down to "Text Document" (skip to the bottom and go up one page)
13. Click on "Find Now."
14. Click on any files which the computer has found (If no files were found, try another word.) Do this by noticing the word "Name". Double click any word directly underneath it.

THEN DO THIS- (It's the same as "Method One")
1. Click on "Edit" on the top left of the screen;
2. Click "Find";
3. Enter the word you wanted like "Chinese" or "Korean" or whatever;
4. Enter;
5. Click "Find next."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
** METHOD FOUR.

THIS IS THE FASTEST AND MOST ACCURATE WAY so that you spend the mimimum time connected to the internet.

Open up the first page and press "Ctrl N" and on that page open the next page until all pages are open and have their own window. Then save them when your off line as decribed in Method 2.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** METHOD FIVE. This method lets you search this site very easily online.
