Exclusive Chandiyar Interview by Kris Raj

KamalHaasan was in Singapore last week Fri 9th May.And i was there to see the man in person. Since it was a sudden visit ,i met him in the last minute.And so i didn't had the chance to take photos of him.But he did give a small interview specially to me and the National TV tamil news.Here as it follows:

Clad in a simple white shirt and jeans,Kamalhaasan looked simple and yet you could see that glow is his face.
With smile which made his "Chandiyar" style beard stand out,
Kamal sat down with me for just 30 mins.

After greeting him and all,i asked him the reason why he had
came to Singapore at this time where "SARS" is lingering
and causing deaths?

Kamal again with a smile said:I was supposed to come here
earlier but now it seems like the "SARS" case is in control here.With a government like this i should feel safe and to let you know i just took my temperature.I came down here regarding Chandiyar.Thats all i can say about it now.

Kris Raj: So how is Chandiyar going to be?

KamalHaasan:Cinema as always will be entertaining.And i hope Chandiyar will too.

KR:So when will Chandiyar be released?

KH:Much sooner then what everyone expects.

KR:I read in a magazine and you said in it that you mediate and do yoga...tell me about that?

KH:Yes i do meditate and do yoga.Mediation is part of all religions.And now it is scientifically proven and is used in todays health practices.

KR:I hope you remeber but i wrote to you thru e-mail stating that i am eager to see "Marudanaayagam" and how you should take the film,and you replied to me.....

KH:Yes i think i do.It was in 1997.You wrote a very long letter!! I can see where you are getting to,"Marudanaaygam" will be coming out around 2005.I am very sure about it.I do think about him(Marudanaaygam) almost everyday.

I tried to ask this question just to see whether Kamal would say Simran but...
KR:Who do you think in this present day are doing a good job as an actress ?

Kamal raised his eyebrow and said:Now almost everyone is doing a good job.
Just almost.....!!Actresses like Sneha and all are not getting full scope for thier talent.
This is my opinion.(he smiles)

KR:On the same topic,Why the reason for Abhrami? I saw your Chandiyar interview
where you said that you just saw the image of Abhirami as you wrote the role of the female lead.....

KH:Yes i did.It is just few things which you can't really put your finger on it.I took some
screen test.And she was perfect.I am glad that all the actors are perfect for the
characters,like some of my previous films.

KR:Kamal Sir, i really have to ask you this if not my head will explode...

KH:I hope it's not a personal question.(smiles)

KR: No sir,it's not.When will Mr KamalHaasan and Mr Mani Rathnam will come together?I mean when the news came i was jumping with joy .Sir we need another excellent quality film like "Hey Ram" to showcase to the world cinema the true talent of Tamilan.

(Becomes serious)KH: That day is coming..much sooner than we think. (pauses for a while) Mani and i will sure come together its confirmed but the right scope of story is yet to came.I know the expectation is there and rather high...and so we must deliever.In the next few years it's going to happen..so let's just wait.

KR:Lastly Sir,I became your true fan after watching "Abbrova Sagorthargal"as earlier on i didn't watch much tamil movies. I have watched 'AS" about 1000 over times .(Kamal smiles)I almost knew every trick you painstakinly did. (He smiles again)Now the real question is that you were thinking about making a sequel to "AS".Is it true??!! With the present day technology you can do wonders!!

KH:(laughes) I wish it could be true! I thought only Hollywood is cashing in on this sequel thing... anyway i will put this into consideration.

KR: Sir i wish you all the success in Chandiyar and all other future films not forgetting "Marudaanaygam".Thank you Sir!Thank you for the time.

KH:Is your wish also for "Apporva Sargarthgal 2" ? (laughes) Thank you.I enjoyed the time.
