We started the trip at the Brickyard Rd. (about a mile from Rt. 4) parking lot in Farmington. On the Farmington Valley set of maps this is map 7. We were confused at the start, because the trail guide was not up to date. We thought the trail stopped a mile south of here because the bridge over the Farmington River was not open. However, the bridge was open and so it is possible to connect to the Farmington River Trail as shown on the map.
From the Brickyard Rd. parking lot we started north on the trail.
