THE YELLOW JACKET BOAT
A little History:
..Yellow Jacket Boats were originally built in the late 1940's and early 1950's by the McDerby-Conatser Boat Co. of Denison Texas. The Co. was also (for a short time) partially owned by Roy Rogers "Happy Trails and Wakes". We believe this boat, due to it's size , was built in the late 1940's. Yellow Jackets were very durable molded plywood boats, extremely fast in their day. Designed by Cole, winning races like the "Round Catalina Island race" and of course early NOA OPC (Outboard Performance Craft) events, years before OPC was an APBA (American Power Boat Association) division. We have heard, that they set a speed record from New Orleans to St. Louis in 1953. Our boat with it's 25Hp motor would do almost 35Mph and we used it as a great ski boat, occasionally even with two skiers. At times we used it on the Grand River and in Lake Michigan. The motor, boat trailer and all accessories are in sound condition having been carefully restored and well maintained over the past 40 years that we have owned and operated the boat.
