Just like in any hobby pigeon keeping has its own teminology also.The terms and descriptions used change from area to area. Some times we talk about teh same things but the words won't match. To prevent this confusion we are going to explain some of the teminology we use in Denizli region for pigeon keeping.

In baska and galaca a color marking on bald-head area from beak towards the neck.
sakar (blaze)
In baska and galaca white marking above the eyes.
yamali (patched)
Coloerd marking at the base of the neck on white birds.
sebere
White tail and wing tips on a self color bird.
yankap (side cape)
Saddle marking on one side of a a white bird.
ciba
Colored wing and tail on a white bird.
yelli (windy)
Timid bird, easly takes off.
harin (intractable, obstinate)
Fat or bulky bird. Not flown and out of shape.
yemine y�r�k (nomad for its food)
A bird that gets attached to any loft easly where its fed.
etkelle (meat-head)
A bird that can be easly landed to another loft.
kiriklamak
Showing a dropper to a flying bird.
s�kg�n (unstiched)
A bird that can be flown several times over and over.
sinek-firlak-gipgip (fly-protruding-gipgip)
Flying so high that it looks like a dot in the sky.
u�kun (flighty)
Always flown, an oldtimer bird.
tutusmak (to catch fire, ignite)
Two fanciers catching eachother birds and not giving them back.
alay (regiment)
Flight kit.
sokarik
The period of parent birds feeding their young.
maya (yeast)
Pigeon milk.
kirkmak (trimmed, sheared)
Cutting the flights with scissors to prevent flying.
yoluk (plucked)
Pulled flights.
ki��st� (above the butt)
Above tail oil gland.
pisburun (dirty nose)
Coloring on the tip of a white beak.
�esitg�z (varied eyes)
Eyes being different colors.
esbah (mate-tied)
Male bird deaply attached to its hen and constandly singing.
ense (kneck)
Male bird's chasing the hen to lay eggs.
mukluf
Yearling.
azap (torment, anguish, suffering or pain)
Mature bird in top readiness to mate.
azanlama
Because of sudden outside activities a bird getting scared and not calming down.

Molting
katillik (murdering)
Two different breeds mix.
golak
Swelling in the joints of the wing.

Blue bar.

Almond markings on a self colored bird.
mor (purple)
Dark blue, hennaed blue.
dagli (branded)
The color of meat after branding with hot iron.
petrengi
Dried blood color.
gama (knife)
First flights' different colors.

Tail marked.
yabanci (stranger)
Unexperienced or lost pigeon.
tutakci (prizoner)
Fancier waiting to catch lost or unexperienced birds.
