Live In Europe 79

Fan Reviews

Brad Duren (Oklahoma, US) writes "I enjoy portions of this album, but the band seems a bit strained and the friction comes across in the performances (to me any way). Stealin' is excellent as is The Wizard and July Morning. Better than Shepperton '74, but worse than their other live projects."

Todd Pence (Fairfield, VA) writes, " A nicely assembled double album that gives us a chance to hear Byron's successor, John Lawton, in a live venue. Although the band's rendition of songs from their current LPs Innocent Victim and Fallen Angel are lukewarm at best, hearing them perform the more classic Heep songs is a real treat. This album contains perhaps the best-ever live version of Stealin', Lady in Black and The Wizard are also well-done. On the minus side, the band attempt to drag out songs that are supposed to be tight, three or four minute rockers into ten-or-twelve minute jam sessions. It doesn't work. Thus Who Needs Me and Sweet Lorraine wear out their welcome, and the time they take up would have been better spent featuring more songs..."
