Honorable Thomas R. Carr
District Justice
Adams County Courthouse
34 East Middle Street
Gettysburg, PA  17325

Dear Justice Carr,

The following letter accurately expresses my views regarding this issue.

I am writing in reference to the case involving Bonnie Still-Hammond, 45, who was charged with 10 counts of animal cruelty on May 19, 2004.

As you may know, Ms. Hammond's animals lived in deplorable conditions.  Since many of these animals were bred for profit, they deserved much better environmental conditions and care.  I encourage you to prosecute this offender to the fullest extent of the law.

If found guilty, I urge you to seek the maximum penalty, including jail time and relinquishing the eight Great Danes to the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, who is currently fostering them for Adams County ASPCA, in addition to awarding MAGDRL and Adams County ASPCA full financial restituion for their care.  I also request that she receive mandatory psychological counseling and is prohibited from ever owning or harboring animals in the future.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully yours,

YOUR NAME
MAGDRL needs your help to make sure this doesn't happen again.  Since Hammond didn't relinquish the Gettysburg 8 to MAGDRL, they are still her property and will be returned to her unless the court decides otherwise.  These dogs, as well as her other pets deserve a better life than the one they had.  Won't you please take a few moments to make your voice heard on their behalf?  If you plan on writing your own letter, please keep it respectful and state the facts.  Together we save the Gettysburg 8 and make sure Hammond doesn't do this to another living creature.
