Personal Details:
Josie grew up in Boston, the daughter of a lawyer and a trophy wife. Her family was plenty wealthy, and Josie was their youngest. Her life should have been charmed, and full of pleasant memories and easy days driving around the scenic city. However, in a family that had nothing but completly unreasonable expectations and siblings that were out to one-up each other, Josie felt like she was being slowly crushed in her family. In a desperate attempt to be the 'best', Josie put all of her efforts into school. She spent sometimes seven hours a night studying, and ran at least three miles every morning. Despite her efforts, she still often times felt inferior to her beautiful older sisters.
At eighteen, Josie felt like maybe her world was turning around. After being accepted at Harvard University, she moved into the dorms at ambridge, and worked her hardest at trying to make friends, and maybe, just maybe, be 'normal'. However, the opposite happened. Josie was offered an internship at the Harvard AIDS Institute, which was an incredible honor for a freshman. It would have helped her acheive her lifelong dream, which was to study the disease, and travel to Africa in the process. Her father, however, forbid her to take it, since he held prejudices about the disease. Depressed and crushed, Josie spent her freshman year in a lonely shell. She made no attempts to meet friends or to open up, and treated school like it was a chore. She grew even more timid, her eyes more sad and empty.
A year later, in the early fall of her sophomore year, Josie was invited to Redford, Illinois, to attend the wedding of her older sister Jean to a man from that area. She would be standing up in the wedding, and despite her timid disposition, Josie was excited to get away from Cambridge for a little while. She packed her bags, and boarded her flight. Her family was in suprisingly good spirits, and her father seemed, in his strange, distant way, to be somwhat proud of her. On the day of the wedding, Josie felt somwhat confident as she sat in a make up chair, as a paid proffesional applied the right this and that in an effort to transform her into the perfect bridesmaid. Once that was all finished, she, the other bridesmaids, and Jean, all prepared to go down the isle as the ceremony began. Josie and partner were first in line. The doors opened.
People were dying.
From that point on, everything is a blur. Josie remembers things in bits and pieces. The groom and the priest lying face down on the altar. Her sisters dying, one by one. Her parents' screams. Everyone was dying. They were being attacked. Somehow she ended up with her fathers coat. Josie believes perhaps she'd grabbed it to hide under. Maybe her subconcious decided she'd need it. Because of her small frame, she made it out through a small side door, and in a panic induced haze, found the valet parking station. Miraculously found her father's keys, made it to his car... |

Josie is incredibly timid. Depressed and introverted, the young woman is quick to blame herself, not others. But deep down, there's a self-assured woman hiding in this little mouse.
Josie is witty and intelligent, plain and simple. She knows what she needs to do to survive. She knew how to get out of that church, she knew where to go.
Perhaps Josie should have been in a mental institution on several occasions. While she keeps it hidden, she's shown signs of depression and anorexia nervosa. The people around her, however, often chalk this up to 'rich girl angst'. |
