Fall of the Merge
The Adventures of Deacon Troll
The rumbling sound grew and the ground shook more violently.  Deacon Troll knew he was trapped.  He could not get out of the Merge without the help of the three.  He tried to remain calm.  The troll knew; the thoughts of the three dwelled on other matters than the Merge.

The brothers lay on the floor of a large throne room as they opened their eyes.  Although they had not ever laid eyes upon him previously, they knew Dizz Trawyer was the one who occupied the fiery throne.  They could sense great evil in the room.
It was then that they noticed the body of the troll, still frozen in defense.  They each ran up to the troll, examining him.
        "What happened?" Burt asked.
A rapid flash of something went through their minds.  "I don't remember," replied Murt.
They noticed a body lying face down in front of where Kurt was previously standing with an increasing puddle of red liquid coming from underneath him.  "Who is that?" asked Burt.
They each approached him.  "I've seen him before," said Kurt.  "He was the one who trapped us."
"How did he get like that?" asked Murt.
"Maybe we should ask the master..."  replied Burt.  They each looked in the direction of their frozen master.
"I think," Kurt began, "that whatever killed that guy, has something to do with the fact that the master is like he is."
"You have no one to protect you now," came a voice from the shadows.
For the first time, the brothers noticed the three silhouettes in the background.
"It's time to finish our job."

Deacon Troll could feel what was happening.  The three were in great danger.  He hoped that he had trained them well enough for this.
The Merge began to shake more violently now.  It was becoming greatly unstable.  The three were under great stress.

The three suddenly cried out in pain and fell to their knees.  The held their hands to their heads.
"It looks like out job is just getting easier and easier," remarked the shadow.

The troll knew what he must do but held back.
Would they survive it a second time?  He was faced with an incredible dilemma: If it did not work, the three would be killed prematurely, and if he did not try, the three would have a slow and painful death and kill the troll along with themselves.  He had to try.
Deacon Troll stood as straight as possible.  He closed his eyes and put his palms together in front of his chest.  He entered a state of deep meditation.  Tiny sparks of yellow light appeared in the air around him, slowly floating toward the troll.  They flowed to the troll's temples where they began swirling into his head and changing color to an ultramarine and entering through his skin.  This continued for a few short minutes.
The energy buildup was now complete.  The troll let out a powerful yell and pushed his arms away as far as they could go.  As the troll did this, a wave of blue energy escaped into the Merge.  It flowed across the entire area.  As it touched the ground and ceiling, the black turned to white and the cracks repaired themselves.  The wave continued to expand, and the more it expanded, the greater the Merge became.  It was reborn.
The troll gasped for breath.  He knew that he had repaired the Merge.  He began sensing the consciousness of the three.  They would survive, but there was still something that was preventing them from sensing the troll.  They were still in an extreme danger.

The brothers rose up from the ground.  Their vision came back to them and were now able to see the faces of the three standing in shadow.
