| From Dallas/Ft Worth: Take I-35E North towards Denton. At Denton, exit onto US 380 West towards Decatur. In Decatur merge onto US 287 North to Wichita Falls. After passing through Wichita Falls stay to the left to remain on US 287 towards Vernon/Amarillo. Approaching the city of Vernon, take Altus/Seymour exit and turn right onto US 283 North. Cross over the Red River (Welcome to Oklahoma) and continue for 16 miles to Altus . Total drive distance/time is approx 210 miles/3 hrs and 15 minutes. From Oklahoma City: Take I-44 West towards Lawton. Approaching Lawton, take exit 40A Cache/Altus and merge right onto the Rogers Lane Bypass. Remain on the Rogers Lane Bypass and it will merge with US 62 West. Take US 62 West for 50 miles to Altus. Total drive distance/time is approx 135 miles/2 hrs. From Amarillo: Take US 40 East towards Oklahoma City. Merge onto US 287 South via exit 78 towards Ft Worth. Remain on US 287 for approx 75 miles and just past the town of Memphis turn left on to TX-256. Remain on TX-256 for approx 20 miles and then turn right on to US 83 South. Go south on US 83 for only a little more than 1 mile and then turn left on to US 62 East (Welcome to Oklahoma). Follow US 62 east for 50 miles to Altus. Total drive distance/time is approx 160 miles/2 hrs and 30 minutes. NOTE: All directions given above will arrive in Altus at the same point. It is the intersection of highways US 283 which is known as Main St and US 62 which is referred to as Broadway. It is a 4 way stoplight and you'll know you're in the right place if you see the Altus City Courthouse immediately to the northwest of the intersection. Everyone will need to head north on Main St (US 283) for approx 1 mile and then turn right on to Falcon Rd. There is a stoplight and a Walgreens Pharmacy at that intersection. After turning onto Falcon Rd you will only need to go about 2/10 of a mile and you will see the Altus City Reservoir on the left located directly behind the Altus Community Center. |
