A new generation of artists, some from the visual arts and others from dance, music,

performance and the media arts are creating new approaches to artistic expression

that combine and redefine traditional art forms. Strange Attractors IV, the Fourth

Festival of Experimental Intermedia Art will bring to Metropolitan State University a

collection of renown artists in a celebration of new work and creativity. The festival will

offer a flexible and interactive environment for artists to present their work

to audiences who will have a unique opportunity to experience these works in diverse

and creative ways. All events are at Metro State's Nobles experimental interMedia

Studio beginning at 8:00 p.m. Admission per event is S6 general public/S4

students/seniors. The featured artists and groups are:

 

Burnt House  - Metro Stale graduate Louise Helfrich leads this alternative rock band in an evening of

experimental music with live video.                                                                                              8 pm    Friday, April 14th

 

Spud Wells and his New Rhythm Ranch Hands - The legendary space cowboy presents an

improvisational evening with Metro State graduate and sound sampling surgeon Steve Goldstein,

guitaristDavis Menas and violinist Gary Schute.                                                                            8pm    Friday, April 21st

 

Steve Carlino - The sound artist-philosopher premiers 'Time: Being", an silentopera based on the

writings of Martin Heidegger and the mysterious images of British crop circles; featuring Steve Goldstein,

Davis Menas and Carei Thomas.                                                                                                 8pm   Friday, April 28lh

 

Georgia Stephens and The Nobles experimental interMedia Group • The Metro State student

group features "Cafe Hemingway", a moveable feast of installation and operatic fancy ; based on

the writer's life and works. Ms- Stephens will preview "HoopLA" with David Means.
