A new generation of artists, some from the visual arts and others from dance, music, performance and the media arts, are creating new materials, performance practices and methods of artistic expression which combine and redefine traditional art forms. Strange Attractors III, the third national festival of experimental intermedia art, will bring to Metropolitan State University a collection of renown artists in a celebration of new work and creativity. The festival will offer a flexible and interactive environment for artists to present and discuss their work to audiences who will have a unique opportunity to experience new works in diverse and creative ways. All events are at Metro State's Nobles eXperimental interMedia Studio beginning at 8:00 p.m. Admission per event is $6 general publlc/$4 students/seniors. The featured artists and groups are:

 

Harold Fortuin (MN) - The composer-inventor presents an evening of microtonal music featuring

collaborating friends and his Clavette Microtonal Keyboard.                                                             Friday, Oct. 22nd

 

Georgia A. Stephens (MN) - The writer/choreographer/performer will premier a new dance-opera

based on a play by Gertrude Stein, with Marlene Tupy-Gaboury and David Means                           Friday, Oct. 29th

 

Johnny Rodriguez (San Antonio) - The composer-performer returns to Nobles for an evening of

transformative chant-based singing with live electronics.                                                                Friday, Nov. 5th

 

Linda Dusman (Boston) - The composer-sound artist presents her Jerome Composer Commissioning

Program project using motion sensor-to-MIDI influenced sound installation.                                     Friday, Nov. 12th

 

Dan Senn (Tacoma) - The intermedia artist and director of Newsense Intermedium will perform on his

hand made instruments with percussive videos.                                                                            Friday, Nov. 19th

 

Blenderflaus (MN) - The premier of a goal-disoriented improvisational trio (Steve Goldstein, Tom

Kanthak and David Means) with live poetry by Carei Thomas and Georgia Stephens.                       Friday, Dec. 3rd

 

The Nobles experimental InterMedia Group - The Metro State student group features final

projects and presentations developed in the fall semester classes Creativity,

Experimental Music and Intermedia Arts.                                                                                     Friday, Dec.10th
