Return to Main Page
The Nobles eXperimental interMedia Studio, in conjunction with Metro State's Center for Community-Based Learning, offered a 5-week intermedia arts project for the AHEAD (Achieving Higher Education Dreams) Summer High School Program.  Working collaboratively students created a video wall and performance installation reflecting individual perspectives on nature and identity.  Students collected images from magazines and created drawings, writings, and video images based on explorations of the natural environment surrounding the Nobles building.  A video score was created from the visual materials emphasizing  shapes which can represent sound-objects, word-images and text messages.  The score was edited and distributed over 30 monitors of a video wall.  Discussion of how these images could be used as a graphic music score led to decisions of musical instrumentation and additional sound processing of natural materials gathered from Swede Hollow Park.  This page was created by the students to trace their creative journey through the forest of symbols.
