the life and times of David Serjeant
I recently appeared in the monthly newsletter of the fantastically titled nicecupofteaandasitdown.com web site. This site is the foremost authority on the art of truly enjoying a cuppa. When I discovered this site through the newsletter of the less attractively monikered UK Online User Group (or UKOLUG for short) and noticed a picture of a Jar Jar Binks mug from Star Wars Episode One, I knew I had to post a message to see if anyone could help me locate a Yoda mug (from the time of the Return of the Jedi re-release), as I'd made a solemn promise that I would replace a much loved Yoda mug that I'd accidentally destroyed a few years previously. After a multitude of fruitless searches, involving loitering round comic shops and searching e-Bay, I had almost given up hope. . . I'll let the newsletter take up the story. . .

September 2003.

Mugs Reunited

-------------

When Dave Serjeant discovered NiceCupOfTeaAndASitDown.com he hoped he had come to the right place to help him with his personal quest.

Dave Writes 'I wonder if anyone can help me track down a mug. I noticed on your "Personal Mug Awareness Week" article a picture of a 'Jar Jar Binks' mug from Star Wars Episode One. The first ever present I ever bought for my girlfriend (now wife) six or so years ago, was a 'Yoda' mug from the same series. This mug was very special to her and nine times out of ten, she would drink from it, even if it meant digging it out from a hundred weight of washing up to give it a rinse.'

He continues 'Unfortunately I totalled said mug a couple of years back, whilst waiting for the kettle to boil (I was raiding a jar of chocolate spread from the top of a kitchen cupboard when a tin of beans fell out and landed on the unfortunate drinking vessel) and the manufacturer, Downpace, don't seem to make them anymore. I think she's forgiven and forgotten a long time ago, but I would really like to bring her a morning cup of tea in a replacement Yoda as a surprise on our wedding anniversary next year. If you or anyone else can help me track one of these down in the meantime, I will be forever in your debt.'

Well a matter of hours latter Joanna Taylor mailed us to say she had seen one for sale on eBay. It turned out that the seller lived five miles away from Dave. Now once more Yoda can be found next to a couple of Gingernuts in the Serjeant household, though obviously the Jedi master is a bit wary of tins of baked bins. Dave was also, as stated, forever in our debt, so much so that eventually we persuaded him to
send us some pictures of Yoda in his new home.
