Whitefields Cottage Basecamp

Name:  Whitefields Cottage
Location:  Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Estate, North Yorkshire

Location Map

The Whitefields Cottage basecamp is situated in a beautiful remote corner of the deer park of the Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Estate.

The large stone-built cottage is fully equipped, very homely and has central heating throughout.

In the early morning the view over the deer park is stunning and it is difficult to remember that you are only two miles from the centre of the town of Rippon.

The only sign of civilisation is the occasional car passing on the road behind the cottage.

The cottage has three dormitories upstairs, however the bathrooms and toilets are all downstairs (quite a walk for the gents!)

There is a large kitchen and a separate dining room. When the volunteer group gather around the large table for a meal there is a great atmosphere in this room.

There is a very comfortable lounge room with large sofas and easy chairs to relax after the days hard work.

Outside there is a grassed area with some wooden picnic tables, which is also used for barbecues on fine Summer's evenings.

This is a very friendly and welcoming basecamp.

The layout of the cottage means that there is plenty of space for everybody, whilst also ensuring that the group mixes very well together.

My Star Rating for this basecamp  (10 is the Best)
